GENERAL STRATEGY - MULTI-PLAYER CATEGORY

CAYLUS

King Philip the Fair has decided that a new castle must be built in the humble village of Caylus. Players use their workers to help construct this castle. Around the castle the village is growing fast. By building the castle and developing the village, players earn prestige points. When the castle is finished, the player who has earned the most prestige points wins the game. Caylus is filled with multiple decisions and possibilities. Multiple ways to victory make this a very interesting game. Designed by William Attia and published byYstari Games and Rio Grande Games.

GENERAL STRATEGY - 2-PLAYER CATEGORY

TWILIGHT STRUGGLE

Twilight Struggle, designed by Jason Matthews and published by GMT Games, is a two-player strategic game on the Cold War. Each side (USA and USSR) is trying to control countries and regions on a global map. The map is divided into six regions (Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa, South America, Central America), with each region containing countries, some of which are important "battleground" countries. These must be held for complete control in a region. Control change comes from playing cards which either give points towards control or initiate historical events (e.g. Bay of Pigs, Marshall Plan etc.) which can upset things drastically in a part of the world. Victory comes from your global level of control. Enough of a margin can end the game on any turn. This is a elegant design on a novel topic.

In order for a game to be eligible for the General Strategy category, a game must have been released from July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006
